Invitation Letter

Dear Colleagues and Esteemed Sector Representatives,

1st International Customs and Commerce Convention brings together relevant national and international parties and actors on a joint platform and discusses the theme of “THE PANDEMIC AND GLOBAL COMMERCE AFTER THE PANDEMIC”.

The Convention shall be held online during the dates 20 – 21 – 22 May 2021, hosted by the Association of Customs and Commerce Inspectors, with stakeholders ranging from relevant public institutions to many universities, non-governmental organizations and public sector organizations.

As is known, a state of a pandemic was declared by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on the date 11th of March 2020 due to the Coronavirus outbreak emerging in the city of Wuhan of China during December 2019. It is still uncertain how much longer the adverse impacts in terms of economic occurring due to the COVID-19, throughout the world.

This adverse state experienced by the whole world challenges the states to take national measures without increasing infection rates while also not reducing production to preserve both their populations and economies. All countries faced decreased foreign trade volumes, imports got reduced to most required items level, and exports also got reduced to keep within the countries as a measure for keeping to themselves.

It seems that the importance placed prior to the pandemic by global capital on digitalization, e-trade, micro-exports, digital currency, and high technology will continue and rise during and after the pandemic.

Due to such reasons, our Regulatory Board defined the theme of the 1st International Customs and Commerce Convention as “The Pandemic and Commerce After the Pandemic” .

The Objectives of the Convention;

  • Developing effective solution recommendations regarding the sector,
  • Bringing together scientists and providing an environment for them to prepare and submit declarations towards science-focused development of the sector,
  • Contributing to the emergence of a fast and effective service approach embracing the rule of law in the field of customs and commerce,
    • Defining the coordination issues among actors within the context of applications in the field of customs and commerce,
  • Determining gaps in legislation and sections constituting problems against the implementation of legislation in regards to topics of customs and commerce,
  • Contributing to our country becoming one of the countries where commerce is carried out in the safest and most convenient manner,
    • Defining issues related to inequalities in international commerce and proposing recommendations to facilitate legal commerce,
  • Ensuring that those who direct international commerce and those who manage the process and the scientists are brought together and that mutual experience exchanges are carried out during the convention.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say that you can note the dates of 20-21-22 May 2021 for the International Custom and Trade Congress already now and wishing for your valuable contributions and works, additional to this, we hope that it will be a successful and beneficial congress for everyone.

Regards,

Prof. Dr. Ersan Öz

Chairman of the Congress
